Company Profile
History
Lumigenic Media was founded in 1984 by multimedia pioneer Marc Shargel. For
it's first several years, the company (then under a different name) created
interactive training and marketing presentations. In the mid-80's this was very
technical work, requiring custom programming for each job. Shargel and his staff
developed expertise in several computer programming languages, and developed
design techniques for successful interactive presentations. This early experience
prepared Lumigenic Media for the "multimedia computing" era that began
in the early 90's, when many people tried to transfer their graphics experience
to digital media, and were stymied by the technical challenges.
Founder
Marc Shargel, the owner and Creative Director of Lumigenic Media, attended Stanford
University. In 1980 he went to work at Apple Computer where he began creating
on-screen presentations that were the pre-cursors of today's interactive brochures.
After a short assignment as Marketing VP for a software startup, he founded
Lumigenic Media in 1984. Marc Shargel is also a prize-winning underwater
photographer.
