Scotts Valley

This is the house built in 1853 by Hiram D. Scott, who bought the rancho including the valley in 1850 from Joseph Ladd Majors. Before Majors, the property was owned
by Jose Bolcoff.. The house originally stood on Scotts Valley drive, about where the current Bank of America building is now located. It was moved uphill several years ago. The house is now maintained by the The Scotts Valley Historical Society. Scott encouraged other family members to move to the valley with him. In 1966 the City of Scotts Valley was incorporated, using the name the family.

Thanks to Charlene D. of the Scotts Valley Historical Society for providing some of the above information.

A display near the Scott House comemorates central California's original apex predator: the Grizzly Bear.
